Showing the 'love' with logowear

Students are wearing everything in their wardrobes emblazoned with the Virginia Tech logo in what one student described as a “show of support” for the school.

“They love this school,” said Meredith Daly, a freshman from Danville, Va., who lives in Harper Hall, the same dorm as gunman Cho Seung-Hui. “It’s unbelievable how devoted people are to this school.”

As a VT alum, I'm not surprised to hear that people are showing solidarity in the face of this tragedy. I don't know anyone who is as connected to their school(s) as we "Hokies" are to ours, and I'm glad to know that people are responding by coming together. The Tech community will bond over this, and they will find a way to honor the victims yet still move on with their lives.

My heart and soul go out to all the kids there at Virginia Tech. I'm from that area and still have a lot of family there. Several of my family works on campus, luckily they are ok. My prayers are with you all.

It's understandable that the parents want to be with their children. I don't think you could keep me away, even if the bullets where still flying. God bless the victims of this event....and know that the rest of the country is thinking of you.

Our prayers and love go out to the kids and families at Virginia Tech. Oh course the parents would show up no matter what age their children are, you will always try to protect them in anyway possible, physically or emotionally! I had to say goodbye and be safe to my son as he left for his college class this morning, wondering what I could possibly do to keep him safe and out of harms way. May God's love confort you in these hard times.

I feel as most parents do I think, and I totally agree with one post that said you could not keep me away, even if the bullets were still flying. I am a long way from Va, in Texas, but my heart breaks for everyone and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I'm sure all Hokies will mourn and grieve the loss of these wonderful young men and women as one of their own. My thoughts and prayers are for all of the families and friends of the victims to feel the Hokie Nation's love and support at this time. May God hold the families dear in His heart as they go through the next days and weeks.

I can fully understand the idea of 'showing the love' with the logo wear. I am a student at Ohio State, and everyday when you walk across campus, you see thousands of students wearing OSU gear -- be it shirts, jackets, hats, lanyards, backpacks, etc. I fully understand and appreciate the sort of love for your school and I know that the same thing would happen here if we were faced with such a tragedy. As a Northern Virginia resident with many high school classmates and neighbors who attend Tech, I am praying for everyone involved and touched by this tragedy.

My heart goes out to these parents, I dont think a full-fledge war could keep me from my children in this situation. I am 38 years old and I still find comfort during turmoil or sorrow in my parents. I hope and encourage the VT parents to get there and hug your children because beleive me they need you. May God Bless You and keep you safe as you make your way to Blacksburg!

Virginia Tech students and Alumni are extremely loyal. I am a graduate of Virginia Tech and my heart is wounded and my prayers go out to all whose lives have been tragically altered by this horrific event. I am proudly wearing my Virginia Tech gear as a show of support. As Nikki Giovanni said, "WE ARE VIRGINIA TECH!"

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the students and families involved in this tragedy. When my son was a Junior in college, his dorm burned down and he witnessed one of his dorm mates burn to death. He still has difficulty recalling this and every time he smells smoke, you can see the panic on his face - 6 years later. Fortunately, I was in the town for a visit in NC where he went to college, and the minute he called me at 3:45 AM, I immediately got in the car to be with him. Again the protectiveness of a loving parent came out. To all the parents and students my heart goes out to you. My prayers, love and thoughts are with you.

We are a loyal bunch. I felt compelled to wear my VT sweatshirt to work today in a sign of long-distance support. It's a very wierd feeling watching the place you know and lowe become nationally known for something other than academics and athletics. My thoughts and prayers to all Hokies!

Dear NBC, the 23 acre oval in the middle of campus is called the "Drillfield" (it's not a quad).

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you at VT. As a recent Idaho State University graduate I cannot even imagine a tragady of this magnatude. Know that today regardless of the University we attended, the school colors we wear, we are all Hokies. Please ISU students and Alumni, this friday wear your school tee shirt, sweatshirt or hat to show our love and support to all friends at VT.

I'm sorry to hear about such a horrific incident. I myself am a college student and even though I live in a different state I am truely and deeply moved. The loss of even one is extremely difficult. I can only send my prayers to the friends, families, and everyone that is connected to that campus. My heart goes out .... from college student to another.

My family and I send our prayers to those families who have lost a love one. I am sending my last child off to a University in August, I am concern now, but I also believe that we are all God's children and he will watch over her. VT you are in our prayers

From Lima, Peru in South America, I send prayers to those families who lost their love ones on VT campus. My heart are with them in these difficult moments. I also have 3 siblings out of my country and understand the parents feelings, also those whose children by miracle are safe and sound, and why they want to be with them now.

I'm very sorry to hear about such a horrific incident. I cannot even imagine a tragady of this magnatude. I myself am a college student and even I study in a different city, I am deeply concerned. I send my prayers to everyone that is connected to that campus. My heart is with all of you.

My prayers and love goes out to the students and parents of Virginia Tech. Especially those parents who have lost a love one. My heart goes out to all. May GOD BLESS, keep you safe and comfort you in these hard times.

I know that there is not any word that can express how bad I feel for those caught in this tragady. May God give you peace and whatever it takes to get thru this.I will be praying for all of you! As I know a Nation will be. Hopefully when you need someone to lean on We will be there for you. In Gods grace.

I pray for the families who lost their loved ones. May God strengthen the families. I pray for all students in the virginia Tech undergoing fear.

I am sorry for this horrible accident ,may God be with all those families who lost thier kids

I'm a Lehman College 1990 grad from Bronx NY.I'm sending out our prayers to the families and students there at VT.

The University implored parents to stay away after the killings. That shows that the University doesn't really understand what was needed at such a tragic time. Also, from a "business" point of view, the parents are actually their "customers". Prayers to those in pain, John
