Mcdonalds_opening

PASCAGOULA, Miss. –- Another milestone of sorts in the recovery has been reached with the reopening of several fast-food franchises in this hard-hit city in the southeast corner of Mississippi.

As we approach the city on Interstate 10, we see what we first take for a gas line before realizing that it leads to a McDonald’s.

Let's get FEMA out of the HOMELAND SECURITY GROUP. WE SURVIVED BOTH FLOYD AND FRAN AND FEMA
WAS THERE IMMEDIATELY. i DO REALIZE THAT THESE HURRICANES WERE NOTHING TO COMPARE WITH kATRINA; HOWEVER, PRINCEVILLE, NC LOOKED EXACTLY LIKE NEW ORLEANS AFTER FLOYD. FEMA AND THE RED CROSS WERE THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

LET'S GET THE RED TAPE CUT FROM THE GOVERNMENT RESCUE AGENCIES!

At least people will be able to get some "normal" fast food again. Glad you guys made it alright. I know some people think that you are just out for a scoop, but some journalists can care at the same time they are doing their job.

i am so saddened that so many lives were l ost that were not necessary. there were plenty of things that could have been done to save so many people before katrina even landed.I am ashamed to say that i am an american at this point. how could we have turned our backs on so many people. something has to be done. My hear and prayers go out to those who have suffered through this. May god bless each and every individual affected by this devestation.

goodluck and help somebody for me

Here's a question to this post: are the franchises offering low prices to the meals they can cork? keep in mind that a lot of people in those area have ver little cash on hand...as well as what items of value that wasn't stolen. Unless they offer a 'buy now, pay later' plan. Overall, a 10 for them to give people a place to get a hot meal. Let's hope that thing will get better soon for them.

My brother lives in New Orleans & although he has lost everything, he is still there working in the hospital to help others. I admire his constitution & growing faith that all will be okay. He is an RN @ West Jefferson (I think that's the name) & has lost his home, everything in it, (it's still underwater in the Orleans Parrish),& his car. If you see him there, his name is Joe Brooks, please tell him how proud we are of him, & how proud you are of him to continue doing all this work with nothing to go back to. Thank you for letting me vent.

Thank goodness we have press who are willing to go to these areas and report what is going on. We have had a TOTAL FAILURE OF GOVENRMENT this past week: local, state, and national. And if we didn't have dedicated press doing this story, the Bush administration would continue to put the "spin" on unabated. People should be fired and held accountable....criminal charges should be filed for the number of people DEAD because of incompetency. Bush needs to hold people accountable instead of making excuses. Long live the free press.....

I live in Long Beach, MS, two towns west of Biloxi, at Arbor Station apartments. They were destroyed by the hurricane. I am now in MA at my parents home, but hoping to return to Long Beach as soon as my husband and I can. Thank you for updating us on how progress is going. We feel helpless up here and look forward to coming back to help others.

Thank goodness for good ol' McDonalds. What's more American than McDonalds?? All joking aside, I have been glued to the TV since Katrina hit on Monday. Hearing of all the devastation and wanting to help is frustrating. What's more frustrating though is hearing our own government battle at whose fault this all is. Let's remember that a hurricane is called a NATURAL DISASTER for a reason. It's nature. What can you do about nature except get out of it's way. Now we get to pay for another "probe" IE: 9/11. Not that I think a probe is a bag thing, but how many millions of dollars are we going to waste just to decide whose fault this all was?? It was NO ONE's fault, it's just Mother Nature speaking. She will speak again, that we know for sure. So let's just take what we know now, and put it to good use. Putting blame on each other is a waste of time, money, and breath. If you think about it, the massive evacuation after the fact, was phenomenal. Our government and fellow Americans came together as they should have. Hooray for us.!! Now let's let the other countries (who have offered millions of dollars in money and resources), who we have helped for years and years, get into our country and offer a lending hand. What an awesome turn of events. I am proud to be a Utahn, who has taken in almost 1,000 fellow Americans who have been devastated by Katrina. May God Bless You All.!!

Huzzah!

In my 35 year life span I have never seen a natural disaster affect so many Americans as Katrina has. My heart breaks for the those whose lives Katrina has changed forever, for the children seperated from parents, for loved ones lost and the elderly left alone. May God bring some peace and unity to a country divided over grief and rescue issues.

I notice you were traveling from Pastagola to Slidel and north, but never once did you mention Ocean Springs, and I can find out nothing about it.
