TRACKBACKS
Like others have said I think Donna & Horace are my new heros too as well as Mike and Andrew for taking the ball and running with it all the way to the goal post. I have shared this story with so many already and everyone is suprised when I tell them the cat was actually found and there was finally a reunion. Thanks to all involved in bringing the story full cirlce.

Shame on all of you. Only in the U.S. would people spend so much time and effort on an animal. Have you noticed that hundreds of thousands of people have lost everything. Hundreds maybe thousands of people have lost family members of even their own lives. But here we sit reading and watching the story of one silly cat. Shame, shame, shame!

It broke my heart when Bill had to leave Miss Kitty behind. Tears of happiness and gratitude are in my eyes as I write this, to know that they are back together again. Thank you so much to those wonderful people who made this possible. God bless you.

I can only imagine how the good energy from an outcome like this helps rescuers on the "front line" get through all the efforts with an uncertain ending. With much love and respect for you and your work,

Thank you for this story that's provided a ray a sunshine amidst the gloom. Kudos to everyone who made it happen!! Please keep us posted on Bill's recovery and the continuation of his reunion with Miss Kitty.
I made a donation to Noah's Wish yesterday.

Thank you so much for posting this video. This is heart warming to see these two reunited. It's a tiny ray of sunshine in the middle of all that despair.
I've been following this story, and so happy to see it come to a happy conclusion. I am grateful that there are people out there who will go to such great lengths to make this reunion possible.
I am so thankful to you for doing it.

At this time, the website with the most comprehensive list of ways you can help with the rescue of other animals is:
http://www.petfinder.com/disaster/
This website is also in the process of building an accessible database of lost/found pets.
They have a list of many of the legitimate organizations that are working in the disaster area. Of course, each of them need donations right now.

I hope this story gives a bit of hope to those hundreds and thousands who fear that they have lost everything: miracles do happen. There are hundreds of volunteers (and others) out there that care about you and want to try to give you whatever comfort and help they can give. Stories like these put a human (and feline) face on a tragedy that many people, myself included, are still struggling to comprehend. I'm still finding it hard to wrap my mind around "thousands dead" and "billions of dollars in damage." A man and his cat, I can handle. Hats off to the rescuers and the reporters who brought us this happy ending. They've reminded us how sweet even the smallest triumph can be in the face of undescribable tragedy.

The show of emotion and support for the animals and pets in New Orleans gives me hope for our own species. Without getting into the blame game regarding the human victims of this natural phenomenon, the pets are truly the innocents. It's refreshing to the love and the bond between Bill & Miss Kitty, as well as the unmeasurable hearts of Donna & Horace, true angels.
If anyone is aware of an organization that is trying to place orphaned pets with foster homes, please let me know. We owe it to these animals that were brought into homes to make sure they ALL find new ones.

I am so glad to see this story had such a happy ending! I also live alone with 2 cats & 2 dogs and am very grateful indeed that there are people out there that care this much about the animals.

Bill remindedme of my Uncle Bob who stayed behind in Homestead and talk to his Ham radio buddies still the storm got too bad. His pets were with my cousin at local theater during Andrew. My Uncle died last year, but even he would have she a tear over Bill and Ms. Kitty. Thank you for sharing this story with us. The pictures on the TV are not real. It is like a bad movie. Stories like these bring home the pain, hope and the commitment rescue workers have. Stories like this also show that reporters do care about the individual. I have watched and read awsome reports from reporters who have shown compassion, empathy and risked their own health and safety to show us the truth of this disaster.
To Bill and Miss Kitty: I hope you get out of the hospital soon and will permanently joined with Miss Kitty.
To Donna & Horace: Thank you for your deciate to animals without you this reunion would not have been possible. I know the owners appreciate your work, I hope those sitting at home appreciate you as well.
Mike and Andrew - Thank you for sharing Bill and Miss Kitty with us. You made Katrina real for me.
God's Blessings to you all!

That is so wonderful. Animals truly are family members, and it is so touching to see people working so hard to reunite the many displaced critters with their owners. It's hard enough to lose your job, your house, your car... but to lose your animals as well is exceptionally hard. I pray many, many more animals can have a happy ending such as this. Congrats to Bob, and many lovies to Miss Kitty!!

THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU for posting this video. I've been following this story since the beginning and tears of joy are shed. Thank you Horace and Donna, you are my heroes, and so is Ms. Kitty who saved Mr. Harris' life. I wish them all both the best.

I think because when we get older, and as our children leave the nest, our Pets replace our children in an odd sort of way. Thus the special bond between older folks and their animals seem JUST as important as being reunited with Family....and in my opinon, our pets ARE just as important, because they ARE family! Unfortunately, some people (usually those without pets) just dont get it.
What a great Story - Special Thanks to everyone who worked hard not only to bring Miss Kitty back to Bill Harris, but to everyone who worked to bring this story (and Video) to the internet.
I for one enjoyed reading a happy story about Huricane Katrina for ONCE this week!

Sniffle, sniffle and bravo!
Thanks and kudos to all involved in this wonderful story - to Joe Brunksac who shot the touching video; to the hardworking folks at MSNBC for bringing it to life on the website; to Noah’s Wish and Donna Wackerbauer, who came all the way from Canada to help the most helpless of Katrina’s victims; and to Horace Troullier, who may be the most dedicated Animal Control officer ever, soldiering on without regard for his own personal losses and hardships.
As the owner of two 11-year-old cats who are my children, I can only imagine what Bill Harris was going through. I wish for Mr. Harris a speedy recovery and many happy years with Miss Kitty.

Animals are loyal, give unselfishly and do not abandon their humans. How many people live alone with only their pets as companions (I do)? I sure hope that the other creatures left can hold on and not lose hope until they are all rescued. I think that the way we treat the helpless (human or animal) shows the greatness or lack of in any society. Certainly, some of these pet owners who live with only pets for company were abandoned by the human race and now they deserve their only true companions safe return.

Before the tears had dried on my face I made a substantial donation to Noah's Wish. There will be no morning coffee on the way to work or 'discretional spending' for a while but their need is greater than mine.
Thank you for bringing us this story and the good news about Wild Bill's Mamma too.

Hopefully this may make some realize that our 4 legged hairy children mean more to us than some people think. My dogs are my "kids". I am so happy for Bill and Miss Kitty. You beat very long odds!
My prayers are for many more reunions between people and their "kids".

Thanks for such a wonderful video; when I saw that Miss Kitty had been rescued I was was excited. I really did think she could have made it out of Bill's house. Bless you, Horace and Donna, for all your hard work in getting her home. Kudos to Mike & Andrew and the rest of the MSNBC staff. Pets are very important to many of us and are a part of our family. To some, they are the only family they have with them daily. Thanks for giving Bill back his beloved Miss Kitty.

I am so happy to read good news for once in the midst of all the tragedy. And we can all care less what other people think. If they are not touched by this story I feel sorry for them. There is no shame in loving and respecting all life and hearing good news. All creatures great and small are important in God's eyes.
