Finally, Miss Kitty reunion video

Posted: Saturday, September 10 at 04:12 pm CT by Mike Brunker

It took longer than anticipated due to a technical glitch, but  here is the video you’ve been waiting for: Bill Harris’ reunion with Miss Kitty.

Video: Slidell, La., animal control officer Horace Troullier and Noah's Wish volunteer Donna Wackerbauer reunite Miss Kitty with her owner, Bill Harris, at a hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss., where Harris was being treated for internal bleeding.  (Joe Brunksac for MSNBC.com)

The videotape, shot Friday by free-lancer Joe Brunksac, was shot in Harris’ room at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The authors of the surprise reunion, Slidell, La., animal control officer Horace Troullier and Donna Wackerbauer, a Canadian volunteer with the animal rescue group Noah’s Wish, also are seen celebrating.

Donna and Horace are my new heros. Thank God for people like you. You are truly angels on earth. Bravo! Congratulations to Bill and Miss Kitty on their reunion. I couldn't tell which one of you was purring louder. My prayer is that you both be living together under one roof again soon.

I saw this feed three times. It´s such a wonderful reunion. I can see how Bill hugged miss Kitty during those three days now.Thank you, Horace and Donna, for going there and thank you Joe for showing it all to us. This is a big blessing! I was telling the catechist I´m going to help with the religious education classes at St. Patrick church the story of miss Kitty and she was touched by it too. It´s a really beautiful story, and I hope Bill recovers soon and be able to have miss Kitty around him all the time again. I can´t tell you how happy I am to see these scenes. There are not enough words to describe what I felt seeing the reunion.

Bill and Miss Kitty your story is a miracle that has given many of us hope. To everyone who helped with the story, and the reunion of this pair, you are angles who took part in the miracle. God Bless you all.

HOORAY! OUR PRAYERS ARE ANSWERED! Thank you to all involved in following through on behalf of the Miss Kitty story. I feel whole again and proud of humanity.

Yea!!! Miss Kitty and Mr. Bill are reunited! And we didn't have to watch 1/2 hour of ads before getting to see the video. Bonus! For those of you that have been critical of these rescuers taking the time to show off their hard work, give them a break. We don't know what their specific job duties are. They might not be the folks that are out searching, but instead are the ones that stay behind and mind the fort waiting for the rescued animals to come in. Also, the people down there need to know about the happy endings too. They don't all have Internet access and immediate availability to the outcome of these stories like you and me.

Thank you very much for offering this heart-wrenching story, it really touched our hearts and brought hope that many desperate guardians will reunite with their companion animals.

The ability to love and be loved is one of the greatest blessings given to man - To me, this is one of the true love stories of all time! I hope with all of my heart that Bill and Miss Kitty have many happy years to come. Thank you so much for bringing us this story!

Thanks for working through the technical glitches and getting this video on for us! What a wonderful reunion!
Please don't let the story end here. Keep us informed of Bill's health as he goes through more surgery and continues healing. I'd like to follow this story all the way to the day Bill gets out of the hospital and takes Miss Kitty to their new home.... whereever that may be. God bless you all!

So happy about the reunion....blessings on all involved.

In the spirit of continuing to save animals still stranded, I would like to post this from Katrina Found Pets website (www.katrinafoundpets.com). I'm not sure of the date, but in case anyone in the area can follow up....it would be great.

"MESSAGES FROM THE FRONT LINE! My daughter is a nurse there and said there is a desperate need to rescue these animals immediately. There is only 1 ASPCA truck for a whole city of animals.Take I-10 as close to New Orleans as possible. Pull over and call this contact number(paramedics) 919-259-0281. There are people that care about the animals there and will get you in. They are expecting our help.
She witnessed (tonight) over 150 dogs on the roof of the American Can Company that need immediate help."

PS...I believe more animal rescuers have been allowed in since this post....but still, if someone could check on the American Can Company building.

I cried and cried viewing this as I had anticipated this long awaited re-union that must have seemed like forever from start to finish.

I know that they will all three be together sooner than later.

The clouds do have silver linings. Donna & Horace your determination is a joy to see. I know that Miss Kitty and Mr. Harris will be happier together. Mr. Harris will get better and Miss Kitty will know that she is loved. Thank you for all you do. I know if it were my kitties I would want to know there are angels like you looking out for them.

What Horace Troullier and Donna Wackerbauer did by bringing Miss Kitty to Bill Harris wasn't for Miss Kitty, it was for a man who's lost everything -- except the things that really matter. I think of this reunion as necessary medical treatment. I'm so happy about this small bit of happy ending and hope that the many other people who had to say goodbye to their pets see a similar reunion soon.

I've been following this story for days. My heart feels a little less sad today. I'm so happy Miss Kitty has been reunited with her owner. Thanks to Horace and Donna for their outstanding effort in making this happen. People like this are the true heros. I hope Bill makes a speedy recover.

Here is a tribute-

Bravo to wonderful caring people who wouldn't give up. Donna you've made your country so proud of you. Horace, you're a knight in shining armour. The world needs people like you in the Whitehouse. Bless your hearts. Keep the story of Bill and Kitty alive...let us know how they're doing as they go on with their life together.

What an incredible story. In the midst of the ongoing turmoil that can make us monsters our souls are rekindled with kindness and compassion because of the love one man has for Ms Kitty.

First thanks for finding her and second thanks for letting us see the story. You guys are on an incredible journey. Keep a picture of Bill and Ms Kitty in your pocket. That way when you get down and feel all is lost you can look at the picture, relive the memory and know not to lose hope. Thats my plan!!!!

My heartfelt love and prayers go out to Bill, Miss Kitty and all the wonderful volunteers at Noah's Wish and MSNBC who worked so hard to make this reunion happen. I've waited days to see this, I can only imagine how long and frightening it must have been for both Bill & Miss Kitty. My cats, Willie and Mollie join me in wishing you both health and many, many years of loving companionship together.

With tears in my eyes I say 'THANK YOU' to the volunteers, the writers, the cameraman and the technical support team for bringing us this story. I have been following this and praying for this reunion. Bill and Miss Kitty will be so much better off knowing the other is okay, and I can't wait for them to be reunited together again. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Our prayers continue for all of the other families that are still separated from their pets.

Dancing and laughing and crying-again with JOY! GOD BLESS one and all for making this happen. We will save this to our favorites as what a wonderfully inspirational story. Just think-(those of you who say/think "just a cat," well think of yourself in this place: cold, wet, bugs such as mosquitoes, unknowing of mother or any family left. No food nor drinkable water. Water all around and silence but for an occasional overhead plane or helicopter. Standing on a chair, sick with kidney problems caused from heat related issues, living a good life according to God, and all you have for comfort and warmth is a kitty held dearly to your chest. Next thing you know you hear a boat and they rescue you but do not go back for that which gave you the only comfort you knew for three days. Three days not knowing how much longer. Kitty to lick the tears from your face. Now you are going without your kitty. Not knowing the status of your kitty...." Well, I hope that those that think/say..."just a cat", well put yourself in the place if you can. Compassion is what this world needs more of, for all living creatures. All creatures great and small, the Lord God made them all. We humans are the caretakers of this world, so let us think a little more about others before ourselves...and GOD BLESS all of the volunteers once again for their efforts, and the media for putting this together for all of us!

We donated, have adopted two kitties two years ago , but would LOVE to foster another one or two, so anybody need home care for their kitties, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Most sincerest wishes to all for their success in all of their future endeavors!

The Harlow's

I have been following this story since the beginning and was about to start worrying. I have my own Miss Kitty and it brings me to tears to see Mr.Harris and his pal re-united. Thnka you so much for all the effort you put into this reunion, you all are what gives this country hope and faith in these times of crisis!

I've followed this story since the first posting and am so very grateful for the return of Miss Kitty. Such kindness and perserverence is such a lesson to us all. Thank you and God bless the rescuers, the rescued and all the people, both the lost and the looking. My heart goes out to you.

Please consider a donation to the organization that made this happen www.noahswish.org (noah's wish dot org). They are an organization that was created to go into natural didaster zones and rescue pets. Another organization to check out is www.bestfriends.org (best friends dot org)...they are also involved in directly rescuing pets.

oh my god! x-thanks to Donna & Horace for this reunion and the great job they are doing. god bless you all, especially bill harris, i hope you will recover soon and will be able to spend your time with kitti.

Awesome! This is such a heartwarming story. The pictures are a wonderful bonus. Please keep track of Bills recovery. Thanks to all who helped with this story. Keep reporting on the people and pets of the gulf coast.

Till right now, today was the lowest day I've experienced since Katrina struck with such ruthlessness last Monday. Personal strength can shine in the beginning days of tragedy but wane as time passes and cold reality strikes with a force sometimes worse than the natural disaster that precluded it.

I, too, have been following the story of Wild Bill and Miss Kitty. Some hours, I have almost feared to check in, afraid to read sad news. Today, I cry with joy. These are the first tears I have shed - they fall freely, without restraint. The numbness I have felt for days is gone.

Bill, if you read this, know that your story is a blessing to the world. The people that helped give your tale the ending that has bolstered the spirits of so many are, as some have written, angels of light, as are you and your beloved Miss Kitty.

For all of you, I wish the very best life has to offer, and I thank you all for lightening the burden so many in this country are carrying.

WOW where's my kleenex! That is so wonderful & I am so happy for you Bill, and Miss Kitty! It has been so heartbreaking to hear the news over last 2 weeks, praise God for the "smallest news" of miracles! Horace & Donna you are loved and blessed--Bill a speedy recovery to you and your communities! God's Blessings to you all!

Here it is! Here's the video of Bill Harris' reunion with Miss Kitty. Just how cool is this? And just how mellow is that cat after what she's been through?
