Fighting terrorism on the water

N_iraq_troops_061004amongVIDEO: 2nd Brigade Combat Team engineers from the U.S. Army's 4th Infantry Division search for insurgents and weapons caches on the Euphrates River in the Triangle of Death, south of Baghdad.

This video is from February 2006 and had otherwise hit the cutting room floor until NBC News Producer Adrienne Mong and soundman Rob Moro called it to our attention and suggested we post it on the blog. NBC News' Kevin Burke was the cameraman on the story and shot the incredible video of this unique waterborne military mission on the Euphrates River.

Thanks Petra, nice to see the best of us at work!! We owe them so much.

Thanks, Petra. My son is one of the officers shown in this tape. We saw a much shorter version on the news in Feb. and it was really nice to see a more complete version. It is so wonderful seeing him and hearing his voice. I have watched it so many times.

Dear Jane Arruf,
Thank you for all of the risks you take in order to do your job and report. The USA suffers from a wide spread case of inattention. The people who claim that the "truth" is not reported from Iraq, are the same people who do not wish anyone to disturb their biases with facts. I appreciate you, and all of your peers, trying to do a difficult job.
